Ever wondered what would happen if everyone was exactly the same? It wouldn't be fun right. Everyone looked the same and acted the same sounded the same. Some people might think it is fun. After a while it would get boring right.
All of that is explained in the short story called "Harrison Bergeron." It is about a government that is making everyone the same. If someone is to smart they have to wear a helmet that make them dumber. The only people who aren’t like that is the government they are different they don't were helmet s or weights to keep them slow or dumb. No one realizes this because they can't think.
Harrison was the rebel in the story. His purpose in the story was to show people freedom and what we should be like not what we were right there. Harrison was try to free the people from their entrapment to show them the freedom of the old world. He was killed for wanting to give people freedom. Also no one even realized what had happened they knew something big but they just couldn’t remember.
This story has many flaws like that the weights don't make you weaker but stronger. The makers of the helmets don’t have to wear them. The government has all the power that they need. Also the world is not perfect no one is the same. Pretty girls have to wear mask that are ugly. Also the uglier the mask the prettier the women under it.
The only reason no one else rebels is that they can't think they lose their train of thought to easily. The government was mean and cruel in that world. They had all the power to. It is a world none of us want to live in. Still have you ever wondered what it would be like if we were all the same? Maybe not the way it was in Harrison’s world but in your head.
